Sunset at Juying.

Due to the complexity of events, today's game started off with only 8 men. So, we tried switching to as defensive a mentality to control the damage before the other members arrived.

We started the first 15mins with only 8 persons on the field, and had conceded 2 goals within this period. The opponents then loaned us 2 of their extra players, but we were still short in numbers. 10 vs 11.

We conceded another goal late in the 2nd half before Jeff and Boon joined in the squad to make it 11 with one of our guest players returning to the opposing bench. Mervin, who was goalkeeper earlier was then brought back in at the heart of the defence as the other guest player(Mr Kue) took into goal.

In the midst of reorganizing the side, another goal was conceded. As we settled, we drove forward in trying to reduce the score and Jack found a way through after some nice work down the left by Boon to make the score 1-4 at half time.

During the interval, a total reshuffling of the side was done. We were back in contention in the second half as we reduced the deficit further with another goal from Jack to make it 2-4.

But the understanding and corordination in play from the opponents was glaring as they gathered pace and scored from a corner before a 1 on 1 made it 2-6.

The spirit of the brave was still with us as we pushed to get another goal. But the final outcome remained intact as the refree blew the final whistle to set the Sun in the west.

Alittle note on the opponents:
They were mainly made up of a former secondary school team players, and had been playing together for about 10+ years. They wear a light japanese blue top and white shorts.

The First 3 Games

Our first 3 games together have brought about mixed results, but at the same time, a sense of hope and encouragement. As it now stands, the results now read Played 3 - W1 D1 L1.

GAME 1
Dressed in red, our only victory so far was played on Mother's Day, 13 May 07, 9am at Blk 367 Yishun Ring Road.

As it turned out, the domination of the opposition (blue) was rewarded handsomely with 3 goals. 2 in the first half by WanYuan and then Kai Loon, who also netted his second and the third goal in the second half.

The final result was a 3-nil victory that marked the birth of Team Sunday.

GAME 2
Location: Nan Hua Sec Sch.
Date/Time: Sunday, 27 May 07, 9am
Colour: White

The opposition (red) in this game had a similar make up, but they probably had a lower average age.

They were well balanced in all departments. The only exception was their inability to control the centre of the park, and were by-passing the centre midfield during the game with long balls and lots of wing play.

We held on in a battle that tested our resilience, the highlight being the penalty save by Steven that contributed to a deserved 0-0 draw.

GAME 3
Location: Tanglin Sec. Sch.
Date/Time: Sunday, 10 June 07, 9am
Colour: White

This was a 2nd leg encounter with the team we played in Game 2.

The familiarity between both teams had little seperating us until an untimely lack of concentration in the defence cost us a goal.

We were 0-1 down at half time. However, the fight was still on, and our control of the second half showed the determination of the players. But the Gods were not with us this day, and we couldn't get the elusive equalizer.

Perhaps next time when we play each other again, things will be different.
