We are playing - SGX United/ white strip.

An Alliance Forged.

The game at Bedok South Secondary was extordinary because of 2 reasons.

Firstly, Team Sunday had a very weak turn out of players, 9 in total.

Secondly, despite the glaring disadvantage, TS managed to forge an alliance with another team, Marcus Goh's Guards; who had half of their team turn up to support TS's efforts against a Yellow Team of veterans (YTOF).

The match started drastically wrong, as two teams playing in the same side tried to find the groove that would make them tick - which they inevitably paid the price early on in the game, conceeding 3 goals in quick succession.

Even with George as GK, there was little he could do to stop the melee from the YTOF.

Having paid such a heavy price, the Alliance was supprisingly spirited. And as they found their fit, the game became more controlled and in the last minutes of the first half, a corner was won.
From a Benny in swinger, Mervin headed the ball with such verocity that the keeper could not do anything about it. Goal!!!...

1-3 at Half time.

The second half saw George coming into central defence as Wenjie took to goal. Eugene took to the right and Marcus Goh started as striker. MG's Ben came in to central midfield as DM.

It was about destruction of the opposition. When the Alliance settled, they were almost in total control.

They were guilty of missing chances, but the confidence was building, and eventually, some neat play from the right found MG some space which he tapped home to close the deficit.

There were chances, but the finishing was wasteful in a game that should have been won. But it was a dominance to remember.

TS as part of this Alliance game had done well. Though clearly, the best player on the pitch that day didn't belong to any of TS's players.

Though the game ended 2-3, perhaps the one most important aspect of this game was the ability of the players to pull themselves together in times of need, and that is notably, a great experience.

Squad:
TS - George, Marcus, Mervin (1), Ryan, Marc, Benny, Seah, Boon, Edmund
MG - Marcus Goh (1), Ben, Eugene, Andy, Izwan, Wenjie

Team Sunday thanks Marcus Goh's team for their support and hope to be able to work with them on projects in the future.

Man of The Match: vs India FC, 7 Oct 07

BEN the number 13!

Congratulations Ben on your outstanding performance!

Fight of Hope

Some would have called it a bashing, others a slaughter. But the scoreline could not relfect the events off the field and the endearing endurance of Team Sunday as they were at times, drained and at times playing with only 10.

Once again, some new faces were introduced to Team Sunday. Though they couldn't influence the result.

Team Sunday was playing a team made up of mostly indians. It wasn't so clear from the start that India FC was going to take charge of the game as Team Sunday's exuberance was creating some problems. However, their stlye was to play it slow and control the game with short low passes.

It worked effectively. Their patient play in the first 10mins was against a 10 man TS who had by now, been absorbed into chasing balls. But when Jason entered the game after the 10mins or so, the complexion of the game became more balanced as Team Sunday started to see more possession.

However, it was two cleverly worked goals that gave India FC a great 1st Half.
TS's defence started from the strikers as they hurried the opponents into loosing the ball.
But the goals mid way through the first half had little chance of it being halved as the lack of creativity from midfield crept in with fatigue.

0-2 at half time.

The 2nd Half saw the introduction of Laurence. The presence of the playmaker now gave alot more control for Team Sunday. For most of the game then, TS maruded forward, coming close a couple of times from halving the deficit. Lyndley had a chance that brought him one on one with the keeper down the left, but his tame shot was easily saved.

It must be brought to attention that Ben had an outstanding game, clearing the ball twice off the line and dominated the left back area so commandingly, that India FC hardly had a chance from down the left.

For most of the second half, TS took stern control, but TS players were starting to feel the effects of a lack of a bench.

With Perbu injured, Jeff playing on in with a minor injury, Jason exhausted from the heat and Marcus getting cramps, it was amazing how TS took the figth to India FC and conceded a 3rd goal only through a very well taken shot from outside the penalty area akin Steven Gerrard. TS ended the game with 10 men in the last 15mins.

Overall, a very good effort in this 0-3 defeat. Applaud, as this fight has shown Hope.

Squad: Steven, Jeff, George, Marcus, Ben, Benny, Jason, Laurence, Perbu, Seah, Jack, Lyndley.
