Eastern Wave

2 September 2007 was the first game Team Sunday played in the East.

It was a wet Sunday morning, and the game was delayed as the opponents had arrived late. But when they did show up, they had a far greater number of players on their bench.

As the opponenets strolled in in their Yellow tops, it occurred to me that for some perculiar reason, the Yellow teams TS plays agaisnt seem to have a great number of players, this time, at least 17 vs TS's 12.

Many regulars from TS had been absent for this match, but before the start of the game, there was a sprinkling of belief as Steven & Jeff made their way to TS's corner. The Master Keeper is back!

The game started brightly, with TS mostly in control. There was a makeshift backline as George and Mervin were unavailable.

TS scored the first goal, after some neat work by Joseph down the right as he dribbled past the defence and slotted home a well taken shot.

Throughout the game, TS played with confidence, though a slip at the back gifted the opponents with the equalizer. 1-1.

Then Steven got injured midway through the first half. Adrian came in as Keeper, and did a neat job till the end of the half.

Joseph had also got into a bad collision with one of the opponents minutes before the half ended and fell awkwardly. He seemed to have injured his wrist which was bandaged up at half time.

1-1 at half time and 2 injuries.

The second half started with the opponent changing most of thier players. TS had kept them under control, but their constant changing of players in the second half was seeping into the energies of TS.

Then the opponents scored after a lurthurgic back pass from midfield gifted the opponents a run through with only the keeper to beat.

Then, with about 20mins left, Joseph had to come off due to the pain he had endured.

Unfortunately, there was no one else to replace him and TS played on with 10 men.

Even with a numerical disadvantage, TS still managed some good chances which was begging to be converted. Adrian also saved some good efforts by the opposition.

But with only minutes to go and a tired but determined squad, TS pushed on, but to no avail.

Overall, it was a very good attempt and with some luck, TS could have came away with something from the game.

Final score 1-2. Perhaps when the Sun shines again next time, Team Sunday would have more luck.

Squad: Steven, Adrian, Kaye, Marcus, Laurence, Aston, Joseph (1), Wenhao, Jeff, Boon, Marc, Ryan
