Red Sunday

The game on 23 september 2007 at Juying Secondary School was a tie that saw the introduction of several new players. Mainly, an untested Goal Keeper in Gary, Strikers Alvin & Chucky, and ex-Balestier Kahlsa youth, midfielder Jacky.

Team Sunday were also bleeding in several other players, Wenhao & Joseph as well as Marc.

Opponents were called THE REDS, probably named after the colour of the jerseys.

Team Sunday gifted an early goal to The Reds when no one picked up their main striker, who was a tall and had a well built physic, who simply punished TS for thier early jitters.

The first half was mainly a scrappy affair with most of TS's players playing for the first time together.

With luck favouring the brave in the first half, TS's domination in the final minutes of play paid off with an equalizer just before half time (refer to video - Scorer, Wenhao).

The second half started with much vigour. No wholesale changes were made but some reshufflement of positions.

Steven was moved to GK and Marcus took his place alongside George at the center of defence and Benny was brought in to the left wing.

It was a half that saw TS playing a much controlled game of football as they slowly made their presence felt in the opponent's half.

But yet again, a badly defended corner presented The Reds with another goal. Minutes later, an unfortunate stroke of luck saw a penalty given when a player from The Reds dived and the refree took in his oscar winning performance.

Steven failed ot save the penalty and it was 1-3.

For all the domination in the second half, Team Sunday was punished with 2 goals. However, thier usual fighting spirit was apparent and pulled a goal back through some fine work by Jack, who found space to make the score 2-3!

Steven then suffered some cramps and was taken off and was replaced by Gary.

TS kept the pressure on in the opponent's half, but never found the elusive equalizer. A second defeat at Juying.

As Steven said,"The result didn't matter, it was the way we controlled the game in the second half that mattered...the important thing was that everyone enjoys the game."

Squad: Steven, Gary, Aston, George, Marcus, Jeff, Boon, Joseph, Wenhao (1), Marc, Chucky, Alvin, Jacky, Jack (1), Raymond, Ryan.
